5 Easy Art Activities for Your Child to Do At Home

art activity ideas art ideas for kids Jul 13, 2022

Are you Looking for Easy Art Activities for your Kids to Do at Home? Whether your kids make art on your patio, at the kitchen table, or on the floor with clip boards, these are the best and easiest art activity ideas to do with your kids to encourage them to make art.

1. Draw Animals

Grab some photos of animals off of Pexels.com and have your kids draw them with either wax crayons or oil pastels. Let them color in as much or as little as they want and let them add their own artist flavor to the image as they see fit. Gotta allow creative expression! Next, paint over the whole paper with watercolor paints for resist painting techniques and then let it dry for some fabulous artworks.

2. Invent Insects

If you really want to get the creative juices flowing, have you kids read some books and watch documentaries or kid friendly YouTube videos about insects. After, ask them to Invent their Own Insect and provide them with 2-3 art mediums and let them create some choice-based art.

4. Landscape Artworks inspired by Where you Live

Have your kids use either pencil crayons or oil pastels to create landscape artworks inspired by where you live in the world. Use the internet to find images to use as reference images for their artworks and then allow them to use either pencil crayons or oil pastels to make their art inspired by your own backyard.

5. Kitchen Table Fruit Still Life

Finally, use the fruit you already have in your home and arrange it on a plate on the kitchen table. Give your kids paper and 2-3 art mediums and let them create observational art of the fruit. They can blend the colors, layer the mediums, and capture the highlights with white and shadows with black.

Time to Make some Art!

The Best way to get your kids to make art at home is to get them making. The easier you make it, the more successful the process will be and the more likely it will be that you create again together. Keep your supplies in one bin together to make it easy to grab and go and put away. Remember, the best way to start making art is to, well, start!
